Day 2 and we need to see some of the city and it’s delights. The most inexpensive way to get around for the three of us is by Uber, they are so cheap it’s crazy not to and the city is big! We started the day at Plaza de Mayo, in the centre and made our way on foot exploring the old dock area which is full of modernised warehouses, restaurants and bars; lively and interesting.

From there we made our way to check out the famous La Boca.
The decision to walk there was not entirely sensible and there was a lot of conferring with Google maps on the way

It was far and a cab would have been much better – we surely took a cab in the way back! La Boca lives up to its reputation of being full of life, vibrant with lots of eating places, market stalls, some tat but some craft, live shows and music. Of course, it’s touristy, and that is what you get. However, all the advice about getting around should be taken seriously as there are many people, including families, who are living on the streets. Often, not threatening, but you don’t want to take the unnecessary risk for a few pesos in a taxi.

In the evening, it had to be Tango. JohnS and I headed off to La Catedral, a dance hall in a fading, formerly grand, building that looked nothing from the outside, in the Palermo area of the city. $2 entrance included a tango class (ticked that off the to-do list) and a late show that followed after the classes. It’s cash only here, so if you do make it, ensure you still have cash left for the ride home. Back to the apartment for less than $4.
